Houby Days celebrates 41 years
The 41st Houby Day Festival will be held May 18-20 in Czech Village!
Houby Days is the Czech word for mushrooms (pronounced hoe-bee). Hunting them is a major activity of the Czechs and Slovaks and they gather them by the basket full.
Houby are not only a source of food but looking them is also a fun family activity. Houby Days activities included a parade, family fun, food, live music, games, Czech-Slovak heritage, and much more!

Old McDonald's Farm Now Open
The Old McDonald's Farm in Bever Park, located at Memorial Drive and Bever Avenue SE, is now open daily from 10 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. The farm will occasionally close early due to inclement weather. A minimum donation of $1 is recommended.
Animals at the farm this year are chickens, cows, ducks, chickens, goats, guinea pugs, rabbits, lambs, pigs, rats, and tortoises.
Activities at the farm include :
Movie Night at the Farm - Bring the whole family to the farm’s amphitheater for a movie beginning at sunset. Feel free to come early and play with all the cute farm animals.
The movie is free to attend. Popcorn and drinks will be available.

County Fair - Have you ever wanted to take part in a county fair, but didn’t have the time or space for farm animals? Come to the farm and experience a fair setting with hayrack rides, booths, scavenger hunt,
pie contest, fair foods and more.

*Admission is free but a goodwill donation of $1 is suggested.
Play Station Adds New Play Area
A new play adventure is coming to the Play Station, 200 Collins Road, this summer.
The interactive play area will feature several new elements and over four new thrilling slides.
"Our plan is to have our new play area up and open for guest to use by the end of June! To get ready for the new play area The Play Station will be Closed on Tuesday, May 29 to Thursday, May 31. We will re-open Friday, June 1."
A small portion of the play area will also be closed for renovations from June 1 to June 18.
The Play Station website also announced new arcade games on their website, as well.
Cedar Rapids Parks Now Open
Cedar Rapids parks are now open. Splash pads will be available from 10 am to 8 pm beginning the Memorial Day Weekend. Restrooms, drinking fountains, open-air pavilion rentals and general day-to-day operating conveniences will be available through September 30, 2018.
The Cedar Rapids Parks & Recreation Department leases 24 pavilions in the city’s parks for picnics, reunions and other gatherings.
To rent a park pavilion, call the Cedar Rapids Parks & Recreation Department, 319-286-5566, weekdays 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. Pavilion information and online rental is available at www.crrec.org.
